Basic Approach

As a company engaged in reproductive medicine, Kitazato Corporation fully recognizes that its business activities are supported by the natural environment and biodiversity.

To fulfill its responsibility to pass on a rich natural environment to future generations while minimizing its impact on biodiversity, we are committed to reducing environmental impact and conserving local ecosystems.

Our approach is aligned with the principles of the Keidanren Declaration on Biodiversity and Action Guidelines, and we express our support for the intent of these principles.

Our Biodiversity Conservation Initiatives

1. Considerations in Research and Business Activities

In the development and manufacturing of products used in reproductive medicine, we consider the natural environment and implement the following initiatives to avoid adverse impacts on biodiversity.

  • Strengthened management of chemical substances, including leakage prevention, proper storage, and risk assessment.
  • Reduction of CO₂ emissions through the introduction of energy-efficient equipment
  • Reduction of waste generation and improvement of recycling rates
  • Reduction of water usage and appropriate management of wastewater

2. Cooperation in the Conservation of Local and Indigenous Species

We give due consideration to the natural environment surrounding our headquarters and factories and cooperate in the conservation of local ecosystems.

  • Cooperation in surveys of habitats of locally rare plant and animal species
  • Conservation of aquatic environments through surrounding area clean-up activities
  • Participation in biodiversity conservation events in collaboration with local governments and organizations

3. Employee-Participatory Nature Conservation Activities

By increasing opportunities for employees to engage with nature, we enhance environmental awareness among individual employees.

  • River and coastal clean-up activities near headquarters and factories (Kitazato Clean Project)
  • Participation in invasive plant removal activities
  • Cooperation in local tree-planting and greening promotion activities

4. Education and Awareness-Raising Activities

To deepen understanding of biodiversity and pass it on to future generations, we continue the following initiatives.

  • Support for “life and environmental education” for elementary and junior high school students, including outreach classes
  • Dissemination of awareness-raising information through internal communications

5. Consideration for Biodiversity in Procurement and Purchasing

In our procurement activities, we prioritize environmentally conscious companies and materials, promoting biodiversity conservation throughout the entire supply chain.

  • Transition to paper resources using certified materials, such as FSC certification
  • Reduction of environmental impact through collaboration with suppliers

6. Collaboration with Local Communities and Government Authorities

We actively participate in initiatives to protect the natural environment of local communities and promote collaborative, symbiotic efforts.

  • Participation in environmental conservation events organized by municipalities
  • Nature observation and learning activities conducted in collaboration with local organizations
  • Support for projects aimed at conserving endangered species, such as the protection of regionally indigenous aquatic species
